Certified Prosthetist

An ABC certified prosthetist is an allied health professional specifically educated and trained to fabricate and fit orthoses and prostheses and mange comprehensive patient care. Once obtaining a masters degree in orthotics and prosthetics, a 1-year residency where students will learn about various types of devices and get clinical experience, and pass the American Board Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) Exam, a certified prosthetist will understand the treatment of conditions of the lower and upper extremities requiring the design, manufacture, and fitting of pedorthic devices, footwear, and orthoses to alleviate problems caused by diseases, overuse, congenital conditions, or injury.
