2020 Cornhole Competition!

2020 Cornhole Competition!

At Adaptive P&O, we believe it is important to sometimes step away from the office. The Houma Chamber Cornhole Competition is a great team builder for our staff to participate in each year and the event helps us execute one of our Core Values: HAVE FUN!

Here is our Cornhole Competition team picture for 2020!

Labor Day

Labor Day

Adaptive P&O will be closed the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.

We hope everyone has a safe holiday!

COVID-19

COVID-19

Here at Adaptive Prosthetics and Orthotics, we are continuing to follow the CDC guidelines very strictly. It is very important we guarantee the safety of our patients and staff and remain open and operating for our community.

A mask is required to enter both Thibodaux and Houma locations. Upon arrival to your appointment, please stay in your vehicle and call our office. A staff member will come to escort you to a patient room. This process gives us time to disinfect our rooms properly and it also avoids any patient-to-patient contact. We are also offering Telemedicine appointments. If patients are too hesitant to come in for an appointment or if you or someone you know has been exposed to the virus, we can still assist you as best as we can over a virtual visit. Please call our office for more information regarding our Telemedicine option.

Again, Adaptive is relentless about operating at 100% for our patients but also keeping our facilities safe and appointments as convenient as possible.

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th!

Adaptive P&O will be closed Friday July 3rd. We want everyone to have a safe 4th of July weekend celebrating the Declaration of Independence of the United States!

Orthotic Brace: The Standard Pneumatic Walker

Orthotic Brace: The Standard Pneumatic Walker

The Standard Pneumatic Walker is designed for patients who may be recovering from a sprain, fracture, or surgery and who need stability or to keep they’re lower leg or foot still. This orthotic brace fits below the knee and for the most part is comfortable and lightweight to wear. It comes in 5 different sizes, is available in left or right, and high or low. There are a few reasons practitioners and patients favor this brace:

  1. At Adaptive, we usually have this brace in multiple sizes in stock. So patients can get fitted and wear it home the same day!
  2. With a prescription from their doctor visit, this device is covered by most insurance.
  3. It is removable! This factor comes in handy in many situations like physical therapy appointments, changing clothes, showering, and sleeping. Although a hard cast guarantees protection, the hard cast may make tasks like these more difficult.

At Adaptive P&O, Monica is our COF (Certified Orthotic Fitter) who can quickly assist patients who are in need of orthotic braces like the Standard Pneumatic Walker!

Check out the restaurants Facebook page to view they’re menu! There you can also see how Kenneth helped our community during COVID-19.

The Adaptive Team can’t wait to come, support, and try Kenneth’s great food at Quizine Quarters!

Continuing To Improve!

Continuing To Improve!

We want to recognize our staff member Monica Yates for starting the process of obtaining her third certification while she’s been with us here at Adaptive P&O. She has recently completed her online practice and will test in June to become a Certified Orthotic Fitter (COF). We are very proud and excited to watch her accomplish her goals, help her succeed, and gain experience here at Adaptive!

Hard At Work!

Hard At Work!

Each of our patients that undergo an amputation requires a custom prosthetic limb that is unique to their specific build. Once the prosthetist transforms the amputee’s stump into a permanent socket, the lab technicians will get to work on the outside appearance. Here, Toby is coating the socket with acrylic resin. Resin can come in many different colors that can perfectly match the patients’ complexion. Using a vacuum like suction, the resin poured, pressed, and massaged in to cover the entire socket. Many professionals use a sting to help spread and smooth the resin evenly. It’s a meticulous process that takes about an hour to complete, but once finished, Toby will have made the base of the patients’ artificial limb!
